For those with the PRI forearm. I have a couple of questions. 1. Has anyone had any trouble with the tube not being concentric to the bore? 2. How rigid is the tube? Could you mount a rail mounted front site without worrying about changing POI. Most of the setups I have seen are in use with the arms rail locking the tube to the upper. 3. Is the PRI wrench absolutely needed for install? I noticed on the PRI site, they offer a forearm wrench that looks very similar to a typical stock wrench. Just checking my options for customizable forearms. Thanks for the help.. Tried searching, but didn't show what I was looking for.. |
| I really like mine, it is a mid length version. It stays put, and is very sturdy. I have a pri top rail that I have modified to fit Troy back up sights. I don't think you really need the top rail, but I like it. The iron sights have never shifted. They co-witness with an Aimpoint perfectly. I have drilled new mounting holes it mine, that has had no ill affects on it either. I used a punch to tighten mine, if you can afford it, I would say buy the wrench. |

Very rigid. I use a sling and a shooting coat with one of mine and while I'm not the hardest holder around, I put a good deal of tension on it and have never had a problem. It's not "absolutely needed", but it's awfully cheap insurance to insure the collar is installed properly and to make sure you don't f@$k up an expensive handguard. It's one of hte few AR products I've never had.
I'm always tempted by the customizability, light weight and sleek surface to grip, but why does it have to be so wide? does it use the std aR barrel nut? whenever I've been tempted, I've gon with the JP Vtac model instead cause its so much thinner.... thoughts? |

i have no experience w/ either thr pri or the jp forearm, but i am currently looking at both. my question is... how do either forearms perform under extended firing? i have heard that the jp heats up pretty quickly and i was curious if the pri does the same.

I was all gun ho to get one of these tubes, for an SPR build.
Then I started looking more into it, it was/ is going to cost more. I can't use the full length Armalite rail I have because of the collar, I would have to shave down the collar and my rail to get it to work...or I would have to buy an ARMS rail or a PRI rail...then spending more money...I am using a 20" bbl. I am more than likely going to skip this tube and get the POF 12x for my build, and sell off the armalite rail. If I could find an older Swan...than maybe....so for me, it is going to be cheaper to go with the POF...not the same, but a well made, SOLID peice of gear. |

Any body have pictures of one on a mid-length? Can you put the short rails whereever you want? Do they have to be drilled for rail placement? Mine is on a SABRE 16" middy I like rifle length HG on a middy because it gives me more handguard to hold on too.
