How does the KAC M4 RAS install? It's a two peice handgaurd if that makes a difference.

With lots of cursing and screaming, thats how. At least thats how it went for me since I didnt have a handgaurd removal tool. Do yourself a favor and get one of these, it will save you a lot of forearm pain. But to answer your question, put the top on first, starting with the front. Make sure the metal tab is under the handgaurd cap. Pull the delta ring back and slide the rear into place. Repeat for the bottom rail.

Odd, I've installed 2 RAS and never needed a "forearm tool."

It worked better for me when I completely removed the screw from the top clamp first. It made seating the clamp a lot easier.

Tried installing a KAC RAS today on a DPMS upper.  Could not get the metal tab to stay engaged under the front handguard cap.  Whenever I would get it started and start the upper grip down towards the delta ring, out it would pop.  I tried using a mallet to seat it, and a couple drops of oil, but decided to stop and post here to see if anyone has had same experience.  Any help?

hold the RAS at a 45 degree angle with the metal table under the front handguard cap.....

Then PUSH forward AND down...... make sure the tab at the back goes under the barrel nut.....easy enough

Simple enough. My wife and son installed one while I was in Afghanistan (home on vacation right now) and just followed the directions. No issues or problems.

Thanks for your service KAC-SR15Match.  I did, in fact, follow the directions but still appear to be having the same issue.  That is why I posted, not because I failed to read the instructions.

The forward flange of the RAS will not fully seat in the forward handguard cap resulting in not enough clearance for the delta ring to clear the rear flange of the RAS.  Any other helpful input would be appreciated.

It will, but the tab is under spring tension and you have to muscle it in there and hold it in there when you rotate the back end down and into your slip ring.

When the forward tab is under the handguard cap, SHOVE it in FORWARD AND DOWN, dont be gentle.

Thanks for the replies.  I did have to muscle that upper rail on there.  Just for the hell of it, I think I'll bring it in to work and have the armorer have a look.  It still seems like the d-ring is not fully engaging the rear flange on the upper RAS, particularly at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions.

Having had to brut force that on there really puts into perspective how much tension is put on the barrel.  Should've save a bit more $$$ and went for the free float RAS.  Thanks again!
