I was wondering who makes A1 style uppers out there.

I'm looking for something that HAS to have these five items:

forward assist,

dust cover,

M4 feed ramp extensions,

A2 style brass deflector,

and dry-film lubercant baked on inside.

The only company I have found that offers these features is Bushy. Is there any other manufacturers I should be looking at?

Thanks

Fulton Armory makes both the A1 with brass deflector (C7 style) and the M16 slick side new, reasonable, at $99 stripped.

Do you mean like these? Check out our own retro forum. That's where I learned of this upper.

I thought I read somewhere that these are just DPMS receivers.

Yes they are. I have the slickside upper receiver. It's a good unit. I put it on my SHTF carbine and I shoot the bejeezus out of it with zero issues.

Last time I looked, niether Bushie nor DPMS  recievers had M4 feedramps, and the DPMS uppers aren't dry film coated. (And please don't post that you have a new Bushie flat top upper w/M4 ramps. Those C7 uppers they sell were made 15-20 years ago)

That being said, my own opinion is that niether of these is necessary, but hey, that's what the original poster specified.

The stripped Bushmaster A1/C7 upper I recently purchased had feedramps.  This was about two months ago.

Of the current production A1/C7s available, Bushmaster would be my choice.

Sometimes, you'll see a Colt upper for sale on the EE or Gunbroker though.

I'd sure like to see a pic of that upper. I've never encountered an early typer upper, either Bushie or DPMS, that had true extended ramps.  They do have the early issue carbine ramps, that have always come on carbine type uppers; but those are much shorter than true M4 type ramps.

I was suprised when I received it as well, and they matched up just like the ramps on a Colt upper I've got.  But, I was actually looking for a C7 upper without ramps to go with a barrel I had with a rifle extension, and sold it on the EE here to another guy.  If you track him down, maybe he can get a picture for you.

This is interesting. I asked bushmaster a while back about the M4 feed ramp cuts in their uppers and they assured me that all of their uppers, including A1 and A2, now come with the extended feedramps.
