Hello!
I'm looking for a rail system from my Colt AR-15. It is 100% stock at the moment and would like to start upgrading it. The amount of options out there is daunting. One that I found that I liked was the Daniel defense Omega rail 7.0(?) Its on the pricey side ($255) any help would be appreciated. my goals for this rifle is home defense and I want to add a optic ( Aimpoint compM3), Foregrip (no idea yet), Pmag 30rd Mags. I am new to the field of weapons and have no mil training, so if u don't mind put things in laymen terms. thanks for your responses. |

Can't really go wrong with the DD Omega. Under 200 go with the MI FF, over 200 go with the Omega.
Awesome review and the best pics on the web of it by (of course) Stickman: http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63 Theres a link in that thread to even more pics/installation instructions. Not only is the Omega a great rail, its the easiest FF you can possibly install, monlithic upper, and super light. I like my MI, but next time I'm spending the extra $100 for the DD. |

The Omega is a great rail and $250 is not a bad price for a lightweight top of the line Free Float rail that is one of the easiest to install.
Howver before you go spending a ton on gear, I'd suggest taking a carbine class to get a better idea of what kind of gear you might really need, and what is more imporant. In any case software always trumps hardware in situations like these. You should also take a look at the thread: What Parts Break in a Carbine Course for some ideas. |

you'd be surprised by where classes are taught. DD Omega is the best drop on rail out there right now... Curious about the reliability of drop in rail. I'm interested in the DD Omega for my 14.5" Bushy so that I can use a grip, hang a light, and maybe even a laser at a future date. However I was thinking that this might be asking to much for the carbine with a drop in rail in a SHTF scenario. Maybe I should order a Larue 7" FF hand guard that won't rotate and just have the current permanently attached flash hider cut off so that we can mount the FF rail. But I could see this growing in scope (new barrel?) such that it just becomes a new upper. Hmmm.... |

... Unfortunately their isn't any classes where I'm at but I do have plenty of friends who are knowledgeable. Thanks again. Knowledgable friend are no substitute for an expert instructor. You're in TN right? That is where Tacical Response is located and I know they teach carbine classes at their facility in Camden. |

Reliability is not an issue as it was designed for a military bid. |
