Does anyone have experience using Noveske lower receivers with Colt upper receivers?  Do they fit together well?  Are the colors similar?

Are Noveske lowers high or low shelf?

Does LAR currently make Noveske lower receivers?

Does anyone have comments on the overall quality of Noveske lower receivers?

Thanks for your help.

As far as I know Noveke lowers are very nice not sure about the shelf. What I want to know is where to get one?

Noveskes are low-shelf lowers.  Mine is very nice, it has a great finish.  It does have some very faint mold lines inside the trigger guard area, if you know where to look, and some machining marks that are covered by the pistol grip.

Rainier Arms has some in stock, so does LAN World Inc.

Finish on the Noveske lowers is very close to a Colt, at least the ones I bought are close. I heard several people say that their Noveske lowers had a grey finish but I didn't notice. I built all of mine using Colt lower parts and they all went together perfectly.

Noveske still gets his forgings from LAR.

ETA: here's a side by side pic, I don't have my Colt upper here but you can see the lowers match up pretty well.

The latest batch of stripped lowers do have a dark greyish finish to them. Noveske told me this was to bettr match the VIS uppers they use.

I heard this from a few different people but I didn't notice it on any of the lowers I ordered three weeks ago. When I put my Colt upper on any of my new Noveske lowers, the finish is almost identical. Maybe Noveske stopped putting that grey teflon finish on his stripped lowers, I'm not really sure. I just know that mine are recent production, and they aren't grey at all.

I picked up a Noveske lower from Lan World Inc. about about two months ago. The finish is very much a matte black/grayish finish. I had picked up a Sabre Defence upper for it, but the color match was terrible. I ended up selling that upper and getting a RRA upper from Pete in NH for less $$ and it matches perfect.

ETA: Yeah Noveske lowers are top shelf products. Probably one of the best I've seen. That being said, you can probably get an lower of equal quality from Stag, Superior RRA, and others, but I admit, I got it for the roll mark and should I ever be forced to sell it, it'll likely go faster.

The Noveske lower I used for my 6.8 projsct could not have been better. I also used a Colt upper with a 6.8 Noveske 16" barrel as well. Photos of this project can be found here on ar15.com.

His lower and my colt upper matched perfectly.

Color? They match as fine as one should expect when combining such parts from two totally different sources. If you want a match, buy a complete weapon.

High shelf IMHO.

The Noveske was the only aftermarket lower I have ever assembled (50+) that did not require any "fitting" (like needing to reduce the spring length and the buffer retaining detent length becasue their hole was not deep enough in the lower on a cheap "kit" gun some one brought to me to assemble. I also remeber this kit had a gas tube that was not to spec either. I mean is bent and stayed bent as if it was thin copper tubing.

So my bottom line is that Noveske lowers are high quality.

When the OP asked about the shelf, he isn't talking about the quality. He wants to know if the shelf above the selector is low or high. Noveskes have low shelves.

Well I started with stag, Then moved to Spikes and Now I'm into Noveske. If you have a big pin upper colt like I did just change the reciever because it's looser then a brazilian whore. I got so Irritated I just ordered a M4 reciever from spikes after having everything installed includding the dd rail. Evertything comes off now to attach the spikes reciver with the colt barrel. Spikes makes good stuff, but if you want accuracy , the noveske comes into play with there barrels.

This thread got me thinking of buying a second Noveske lower till I saw that they have gone up almost 50 bucks since I purchased mine a few months ago. Oh-well, guess I didn't need it anyway.
