will the Colt factory competition trigger group as found in the Colt CAR-A3 HBAR Elite work in a "blocked" Colt Sporter or Colt Match Target lower?

In the years we've been here I've gathered that the Colt Competition trigger isn't really all that. Just a slightly polished up standard piece.

You'll be much better off with just about anyone else's aftermarket trigger.

And the Gisselle HighSpeed is the bomb!

I've used one for 9 years. Ive also used the Accuracy speaks, CMC and Armalite 2-stage.

There are only two single stage "match" triggers i trust. Colt & AS.  I'll take a 4# trigger that never doubles and sets off surplus primers over a 2.5# trigger than doubles and has misfires anyday.

Others will have other priorities and be willing to sacrafice $$$ or reliability for the lightest possible trigger pull.

Well, evidently I'm all wrong here. First, I didn't know they were two stage triggers. And second I was under the impression they weren't really anything special, more like "take the black finish off the parts and add a little extra polish to the sear surfaces and slap a 'Match Trigger' label on it.

I hate it when that happens.

Actually, Bob, you were half right.  They're single stage.  They are different from the standard parts, though.  For one thing, the hammer is significantly lightened.  I have read that the silver finish is NP3, which as you may know is a teflon-impregnated nickel.  I can not verify, however, that this is true.

Had one in a rifle I no longer own.  It was noticeably smoother.

Didnt mean to imply the Colt is a 2-stage. The only two stage i ever tried was the Armalite and just couldnt get used to it. I'm sticking with single stage triggers for AR's now.

The Colt is simular to the Accuracy Speaks in appearance. Being a silver colored trigger group simular in appearance to GI parts but more refined.

The M4 this is going in has a factory trigger that is gritty and at least 7 pounds. Worst trigger of any rifle or carbine i own.

Good job!

Strange tho. I don't seem to remember them having the low mass hammer.

But then anymore seems I'm not remembering things like I used to.

Got it fully installed. Trigger pull is smooth at about 4#. Function checks okay.

compared to gritty and over 7# with the OEM componenets.

Live fire test tommorow.  Only concern is will the light weight hammer spring be strong enough for hard milspec primers? I'll test that out with SA M1A3 ammo. If it fails that test i'll put the standard weight hammer spring in and try again.

Test fired it today with Hornady 75Gn BTHP, Black Hills 55Gn FMJ & South African M1A3 (1986). No misfires or doubles.
