Most likely I will be bying a middy upper from delton. I am thinking about getting it with a yhm free float light rail. I have heard some complaints about them, but I see alot of them being used on this site. I would love to hear from some owners and see what they think. This will be a spare carbine. My main carbine is a cmmg m4 14.5 with phantum. This new middy will be used for range, hunting, and a back up HD carbine. For the price $90 it seems like it would be worth a try. As alwayse thanks yall |
| I've got several of the carbine length free float tubes. They have worked fine for me. I try not to spend more money on something than I have to, and try not to change things on an AR until I see a reason. I haven't seen a reason to spend more than my YHM rails cost. |
| I got a YHM carbine length 1 piece free float. Havent had it long or used it much since ive had it. Looks good to me. I think that it does weigh a couple of onces more than some of the daniel defense quad rails. all my buddies that take a look at it seem to always point out to me that it is not t-marked. but i dont care much about that cause once i mount something it stays. dont think you will be disapointed |

I have one on my first RRA AR that I bought several years ago. It's not a Daniel Defense or a LaRue, but it's a lot less expensive. I have not had any issues with it rotating or anything not being able to be firmly secured to it. That said, that rifle gets the least use in the safe as far as AR's go - so it's not seen any classes (the only "hard use" I'm likely to see.) It is what it is - an inexpensive rail. |

they are good rails. and you can't beat the price. the new ones don't require locktite as they have a set of 2 anti-rotation screws to hold the rail. in place. I use them on almost all of my builds. for the price its hard to beat... unless you want to drink cool-aid and stick DD or KAC on a Pony gun..... and yes I have that too... |

Put one on a budies rifle last night. I don't like only using thread locker for holding the optional end cap but it is only a cap. Went together without a problem, I wish these guys would give you a stamped steel spanner type wrench with the kit..... Its not a Larue but I think its a good handguard for the money... |
RFmissile jr. needs a little trigger discipline.... |
This pic was before we installed the Miculek muzzle brake. The recoil was next to nil, but he didn't like the compression blast out the back side. It also wasn't very pleasant for anyone sitting next to him. So we installed a YHM Phantom 52C. The recoil doesn't bother him and he has great trigger control. He can tag the 300 meter metal diamond at our local range all day long. (Were you referring to him having his finger on the trigger in this pic or the fact that he doesn't have the tip of his finger on the trigger?) We do a lot of dry-fire practice. |
![]() I like mine a lot. I actually got it with money from selling an RASII.(long story) I did a little WECSOG modification to allow room for the regular carbine front sight, and presto- mid-length rail on a carbine gas. As others have stated, its a little fatter that I like, and the rails might be a bit on the big side of 1913, but that hasn't really been an issue for me. A good offset light mount and the "fattness" wont matter. I used a Viking Tactics mount, then switched to a LaRue. All is happy. Tex78 |
