In my first LE Rifle post, there was some discussion as to where to find a left-handed safety selector.  JP Enterprises offers one that can be installed lefty or righty, or can be ambi with the purchase of an additional part.  Cool stuff.

If I remember correctly that safety is notched for the addition of the ambi piece, and if you install it w/o the ambi piece, it's as ugly as home made sin.

So if that's the case, I would have absolutely no reason to spend what they're asking for the thing, when I can get a DPMS ambi unit for just over $20; and if I don't want the left side switch, I can just grind it down. Be a heck of a lot better looking than that overpriced POS.

Just my opinion, but you might be better off training yourself to use a standard safety and engage/disengage with the knuckle of your trigger finger.

If you train with a lefty or an ambi, you'll always have to fumble for a bit when you have a 'normal' rifle in your hands.

I am also a lefty with a Bushmaster M4 and would like to make it ambidextrous. Stag sells their ambi safety for $25, and I wondered if anybody knows if there are compatibility issues.

I read of someone who had a helluva time installing the DPMS safety, said it took 2 hrs. of filing to get it to fit correctly.

Olympic has a safety that looks like any, but can be inserted from either side.   The Ambi safeties interfere with my trigger finger. The Oly is nicely made and moves smoothly

I have used Bushmaster, RRA and 2 DPMS ambi-safeties.  No problems with any of them.
