Has anyone heard ANYTHING about Sabre Defence rifles, good or bad?  I have mentioned that company in a few of my posts and I never get a response.  I am trying to build a complete patrol rifle, with sling, light, optic, everything, for under $2000.  I am trying to buy the best, most reliable rifle I can afford.  I can't afford Noveske, I already checked.  There are so many names it's hard to know what's what.  I've heard  Stag, Bushmaster, RRA, etc. tossed around but don't know how they all rank.  So besides my question about Sabre, what is the best setup money can buy for $2000?
Thanks.

Sabre has an ISO 9001 certification, has .mil contracts for Mini-gun barrels, M2 receivers and barrels and was recently awarded a small contract for Navy and USMC M16's. I'd say that they have the capacity to produce a good rifle even if it lacks some (IMO) important features. Mainly a mil-spec receiver extension and HPT/MPI'd all barrels and BCGs. Since I actually know what an ISO 9001 certification means I'd buy with confidence anyway and swap out the RE with an LMT SOPMOPD kit.

Sabre makes a very good product, but the [price point ins't much less than a Noveske N4 if you're looking for the "mil-spec" features.  I'd recommend to grab a BCM while they're still some available or get an LMT.

IMHO, great setup, but Bravo Company uppers are a little nicer.  They're cheaper too. (bravo company's website has them out of stock, but global-tactical shows in stock on 16" M4, and I think www.grtactical.com still has some in stock)

BCM uppers are better. If you can still get one...do it.

Before I didn't realize just how much it costs to get a high-quality AR.  Now that I've done some research into it, why wouldn't I just buy a Colt and be done with it, if I'm going to spend upwards of $2000 anyway?  There was an article in a gun magazine recently that had a graph listing mil-spec features in commercially available "M4's".  The one at the top of the list obviously was the Colt 6920, then an LMT, then Noveske, Sabre Defence, S&W, CMMG, Stag, Bushmaster, RRA, Armalite, Olympic, and DPMS, in that order.  The Colt was about the same base price as the other top rifles and had virtually all the mil-spec features.  How come when I ask what is best no one ever says Colt?

You asked specifically about Sabre and I have no idea what "best" for you. You just might not need some of those mil-spec features. Only you know what's "best" for you but there's some manufacturers that I'd stay away from for a rifle I might have to bet my life on. Colt, Noveske, Sabre, LMT and BCM aren't one of them.

Yeah, sorry, I know this post was orig. about Sabre, I was kinda referring to some of my other posts where BCM, Noveske, etc. were listed as alternatives to Sabre, but Colt never was.  Also, I'm obviously ignorant to the real specifics of it all, so what mil-spec features would I not need?  I just assumed the more the better, but I know that's a really simplified way of thinking about it.  Thanks.

I think the reason no one mentioned Colt is because you kinda imply keeping the costs down and Colt will generally cost the most of the available options.  In your original post you mention decking the rifle out with accessories while staying under $2000.  But again, without knowing what specific accesories you need/want, it's hard for anyone else to guide you.

In the end, all of the big names you seen mentioned in this thread are excellent quality and will serve you well.  Shop around and get the combo you can get the best price o so you can maximize your savings.  Or if you just want to keep it simple, find a reliable vendor who has Colt 6920s in stock and get one of those.

The Colt 6920 is probably the best out of the box all around rifle going. I didn't mention it because it will put you over your $2000.00 target by about $300.00

I appreciate it guys, I know it's hard (maybe impossible) to choose for someone else, especially when you don't know exactly what they want.  I definitely have plenty to go on now as far as recommendations, I just need to go shopping.  Thanks.
