I recently received a 14.5 LMT upper from BC USA, and after pinning and welding a Vortex FH, I mated it with a Eagle Arms lower.  I notice that on one side, the upper and lower fit flush, and on the ejection port side, the upper receiver comes over the lower by a few millimeters.  I tried the upper on my Stag and CMMG lowers and see the same thing.  Is this common with LMT uppers or is the receiver out of spec?  On all of my other rifles the upper and lower fit flush on both sides.  I will post pics a little later.  I hope I gave a good description.

Have you shot it yet & if so how did it shoot? Do your other uppers fit the same on the lowers? My uppers of various makes fit the same way on my other lowers. It's not a few mm's but just enough that when I run my fingernail down the side I can feel a very slight step. The function of my rifles is not affected. I think it has something to do with the pressure of the pivot pin pushing the upper into the lower from right to left. If your upper was out of spec it would most likely be the pivot pin in the lower not matching up with the pivot pin hole in the lower or the pivot & take down inserts being too wide to allow the upper to fit in the lower at all. Sounds like you are g2g & sounds like this is normal with most uppers...at least with the ones I own. My LMT upper fits just fine in all of my lowers.

Thanks for the reply.  It's actually 1/2 of a mm .  It fits this way on all of my lowers (Stag, DPMS, Noveske, CMMG).  I am still itching to shoot it, but I got stuck working the dayshifts at the plant this past weekend.  It doesn't seem to affect function as I've cycled it several times and seems smooth (i.e. I don't hear binding between the bolt carrier and buffer tube.  I will know tomorrow when I finally get to shoot it.

And I'm sorry about finally getting around to posting these, but here is what I'm talking about (also sorry the camera is only a 1.2 MP, I need to stop buying so many guns and get a good camera ).

Side pic with Magpul MOE.  Great grip, it gives the TD a run for it's money.

I hope it doesn't have to be sent in (i.e. I hope it functions fine)  because the FH has already been pinned and welded into place.  I hope that doesn't void LMT's warranty!

you will probably be fine, but shooting it will tell the tale.

It shouldn't cause any issues.  Just make sure the carrier isn't binding in the receiver extension when you work the action.

I'm not real picky about a perfect fit, but that would bother me.  Especially if the bolt carrier group, and or the charging handle where binding to one side or the other.  I really doubt that they are.  I don't think it would cause any huge problems, but I'd get another receiver.  That's just me.   Don't worry about the barrel.

Give LMT a call, or email them the pics.  Let us know how it turns out, and Good Luck.

0.5mm? Whatever.  Shouldn't be a big deal.  Some ARs/M16s/M4s are so sloppy they rattle more than AKs when you shake 'em.  I'd say it's probably fine.  As long as nothing binds, don't sweat it.

I took it to the range and it did very well.  I shot 4 mags (120 rounds) of PMC 55 gr.  I was holding a 2" group @ 100 yards with the irons which is pretty good for me.  I'll bet I can get sub-MOA with SS-109 and a 4x ACOG (but I plan on getting a Comp M2 w/ M68 mount from LaRue).  Another thing that dawned on me was to look at the interior of the receivers, and they both line up perfectly.  I am guessing that that one side could have been machined down a little more on the exterior (i.e. it is thicker on that side).  Oh and I did email LMT, they said they would only change the upper if it was causing the weapon to malfunction, and that they only replace uppers with major cosmetic defects whereas this does not have one.
