So I accidentally ordered a heavy barrel when I ordered my kit from M1 awhile back.  I'm getting annoyed at the extra weight of this barrel.

I'm trying to find a barrel but am not having much luck.  I want either a 1:7 or 1:8 twist, 16" carbine length barrel.  Gov't profile or lightweight- it doesn't matter much to me.  I just want something lighter.

Del-Ton doesn't seem to sell these faster twist barrels even though they're available in the kits they offer.

I like the ER Shaw lightweight barrels at M1 but they only have them in 1:9.  I looked at CMMG but that's a little more than I have to spend.  I'm looking to spend around $200.  Can anyone help me?

Give PK Firearms a call. In the past they've sold 1/7 Bushmaster CL'd barrels that seem to run about $215 for a 16" rig. I'm not sure if you're going to find a 1/7 barrel assembly less than that brandnew. You can check the EE & see what's available for new or used. You may be able to find a stripped barrel for less than your budget cap if you're comfortable building it up & putting it on your existing upper. The CMMG would be a good choice for the features you want. I bought a complete barrel assembly from them on the cheap with discounts but I just noticed that their base prices have been increased about $20. I'm not sure when or why this happened but that's a shame. They seem to be getting more than enough business so a price increase is surprising. Would you entertain a 14.5 or 14.7 with perm FH? That may increase your chances of finding a 1/7 gov't or lightweight profile somewhere.

Great find!  Thanks for your time.  I think I might be able to spend a few more bucks.  I just don't want to spend TOO much.  Thanks again.

gah436, GDS_Scott keeps that thread updated with current prices. He/they condensed their Bushy barrels down into one thread and just keep it maintained that way. Simpler for them, I'm guessing. I purchased a 16" Superlight from him about a month ago and the price was good.
