I want to upgrade my trigger and cannot decide between McCormick 3.5# single stage and Timney's 3# single stage. Is there really that much difference?
Thanx,
Don

Timney without a doubt.  IMO it has a much cleaner break on the tirgger.

+1

Had them both, sent the McCormick back.

Shorter/quicker reset on the Timney as well, imho.

Everybody that has tried my Timney 3# single stage has loved it, including me.  No significant experience with the CMC on my end.

Two things worth mentioning:

The first one that I received new from a very reputable industry partner here had a minor problem.  They suggested that I deal with Timney directly, which I did, and the problem was all squared away about a week later.

I have read some reports of light primer strikes when using mil-spec ammo, with its harder primers.  I have not experienced this problem, but probably 80% of the ammo that I fire through that weapon is commercial spec, i.e. BH SMK's.  YMMV

We have sold many of both, now only the Timney. Their fit system is superior and as stated already, reset and overtravel are shorter. The 3lb typically weighs at 2lb10oz - 2lb12oz, so the 4 lb is popular with the SBR folks.

As to light strikes, in all of our shooting, have not seen it. that includes around 10k rounds of M193/M855 a year for myself and Wes shoots as much or more. Also a LOT of precision .223 ammo.
