Is there any downside in choosing CMMG's lightweight CAR barrel as opposed to their M4 profile barrel besides not being able to attach a M203? Both of which in 14.5

The 14.5" lightweight CAR barrel is a thinner profile and lighter compared to the standard 14.5" M4 barrel. If using it for semi auto only then I wouldn't worry about getting a heavier barrel. I like lightweight barrels better personally, makes the weapon handier.

Of course you can attach an M203 to a lightweight barrel. The M203 was designed around the A1 barrel profile. Why do you think the M4 barrel steps-down to .625 at the front attachment point?
