| Looking for a new lower and was wondering if any of you have had any experience with Essential Arms. Not sure who makes em but the price looks good. Finishing a service competition rifle and need a new lower. Any advice is appreciated. |

My first AR-15 was built on an SGW lower. My second was built on an Essential Arms lower. That was more than 20 years ago. Essential Arms makes Essential Arms lowers. Essential also makes the rubber coated aluminum CAR buttstocks. The EA website says "since 1982". Essential was one of the first companies to offer stripped lowers to the public. Others were Sendra, PWA, SGW (Olympic Arms), and Palmetto (made by SGW). Early Bushmaster AR-15's were built on Essential lowers. Other than a small batch of match rifles built for a local club, Essential did not build complete rifles, nor did they ever sell complete rifle kits (less lower). Most all Essential Arms rifles you see are Frankenguns, quality depending on parts used and skill of the builder. Preban and some postban EA lowers are investment cast (supposedly by Ruger's casting division). But in the many years I have owned and seen a lot of Essential lowers on rifles, not once have I seen a malfunction or other problem that was due to the lower. I have never seen one broken. WOW! Those look much better than mine(the fire control markings)! I will say that I'm very happy with my two recievers that I bought a couple of years ago. If you stick with the forged lowers you shouldn't have a problem. I've never heard anything bad about their early cast ones either. I will definetly buy more!
