| Thanks for the useful information, I would have never come up with the idea to use fire. I also wanted to know how you can remove this rail if it's possible? Also, will glue remover, acetone, kerosene, etc. strip the finish? What type of finishes are used on these rails? |

The rails are hard coat anodized which means that there's a thin layer made of the same stuff as the grit on sand paper. Hurting the finish would require either acid that dissolves aluminum oxide or mechanical damage such as trying to scrape the glue off with a metal tool or trying to sand blast it off. And heat is probably the best answer. I'd fire up a propane torch and go to work. |
| The opposite of installation. There are step my step instructions HERE. Basically, you need to remove the muzzle device if one is installed, unless you have a two piece gas block or something. Then remove the front sight/gas assy. and tube. Then you'll need to loosen the locking nut that secures the rail and lastly unscrew the rail. |
