I have two uppers that I am trying to choose between for an SPRish build.  I am going to use a PRI handguard that I recently got from ADCO, a Larue SPR scope mount and a Nikon scope. Both uppers are shooting 5 shot groups of an inch or slightly less at 100 yards with two generic handloads, one 55 grain and 1 69 grain.

Upper #1 20 inch Colt 1/7 chrome lined government profile barrel.  This upper is not currently free floated.  It seems to shoot either of the above loads about the same.  I bought this barrel used, but it gauges as almost new.

Upper #2  16 inch Sabre chrome lined government profile MID-Length barrel that is currently free floated.  This upper has maybe 200 rounds through it.

I shot both of them yesterday hoping one would outperform the other enough to help me choose, but as stated, they shot about the same.  I plan to shoot the assembled rifle out to 500 yards.  Thank you for your input.

Tough call...
Here's a archive link that might provide some input to your decision.

Thanks for that link.  I hadn't seen that one and it does have some really good information in it.

With accuracy about the same, I would go with the 20" 1/7.  The extra barrel length will give you more velocity and the 1/7 twist will allow you to shoot bullets up to 77 grains.
