I just ran into some cash. I'm torn between the two. I hear nothing but positive things about them both. I don't really need the battery compartment on the modstock, but I hear the cheek weld is awesome and worth it even if you don't use the battery compartment. I figure once I get one or the either, I can slide the stock I didn't choose over the existing stock tube thingy from the one I do buy. I've heard the CTR is solid as a rock though. How is the cheek weld on it? How does weight compare with the two? Which is more comfortable? FEED MEE! |
I would say look at you mission. The CTR is designed for short carbines with missions like CQB. The EMod is more for the standard patrol rifle mission. |

I was just asking how to poll as well. lol. Start a thread, fishish what you have to say. then after you click submit, look under the Conduct Code button, to the right hand sight of the screen and click, add poll. Oh, and I'm not talking about the new Emod. I'm more interested in the clubfoot modstock. Sorry I didn't clarify that earlier. So modstock, or CTR? I'm still really torn about it. Do you think the modstock is more comfortable? |

Keep in mind that cheek weld is also a function of how you hold the rifle or how you run the stock. If you shoot nose to charging handle, and run the stock open more then a few stops, your face is on the tube and not on the wide comfy surface of the stock. If you shoot with your head further back, then you may benefit from the wide comfy surface. So the result is, the wide comy spot moves with the stock. Only the Magpul 93 series and the UBR offer a constant cheek weld regardless of stock position. So evaluate how you run your stock and where your face ends up. If it ends up on the tube most of the time, then the wide comy stocks or stock saddles may not help you and you're just as well off with a CTR. If you end up on the stock more often, then the modstock and or sopmod will pay off for you. Or you can get a Magpul stock - 93 or UBR, and know that it will always be good for you. |

I had my stock choces narrowed down to those two a while back, and I went with the CTR. The CTR locked up tight, felt very solid. I didn't need the storage of the Modstock. The curved buttplate of the CTR is aces, one of my chief complaints with the standard M4 stock is that the flat buttplat tended to slide off my shoulder. The curved rubber buttpad held it in the pocket of my armpit MUCH better. The cheek weld of the Modstock wasn't good enough to put it ahead of the CTR for me. Just go to a gunshow/store and play with both. You'll be much happier with your purchase if you get some hands-on before laying down cash. |

Thats the problem. No gun show will be around for a while. Then I'm not even sure they will have what I need being where I live. I hear that the Vltor is way more comfortable then the CTR. Though I haven't heard any reviews with the CTR with the .55" rubber end on it. I don't have the money for the UBR. It is freakin awesome in all aspects though. I heard there is a new CTR coming out? Anytime soon? or should I just go with the one now? |
|
Ok, Ive done weighed it all out. I'm getting the CTR. Thanks everyone for the help and input. Glad I can always count on you guys for some input. Anyone know good prices. I need the whole set. I need the .55" butt pad mill spec buffer tube plus internals that go with it. and the stock. I cant find a single kit that includes it all for a good price. I was thinking about buying each item separately What do you guys think? |
