Hi all, Im new to this forum and thought this would be a great place to get some answers. I recently purchased a California legal AR15 Bushmaster and love it to death!! I believe the trigger weight of my rifle is 8lbs. and want to get that down to around 3 or 2 1/2lbs to improve my accuracy over longer distances. My question is does anyone have a good recommendation of an aftermarket trigger system or should I only go with a factory replacement? I've called Bushmaster and was told I'd receive a call back to answer my question but as you can tell by this post I still have yet to get that call. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks Robbie |

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782 That is an inexpensive RRA 2-stage. You dont have to decrease the weight that drastically - a good 2 stage with a clean break can be 4-5 lbs and be NIGHT AND DAY over a gritty, creepy, stock trigger. If you really want a fine tuned trigger, look at a jewell. |
And when you want the Best get a Geissele. Less parts, made from better materials, and totally independent adjustments. You'll be hard pressed to find a Jewell in .mil use, but there are hundreds of Geissele's in use by SOCOM. |
I own and have shot a Jewel for over ten years. I love it. Today at SHOT I examined a Geissele and a Chip M C's. Spoke with Chip and understand the sear engagement aspect and the operators who are using the hell out of his fine unit's needs. All the dust settles I want Geissele's for my personal rifles in the future. That simple. |
The site needs updated. The hi-speed triggers are about a month out, and the SSA triggers about 6 weeks out. |
I have been disappointed by Bushmaster's match/target trigger. RRA used to make a decent 2-stage for the money, when they could be had for $75. Now RRA prices have gone up to $95-$120. Brownell's no longer gives a dealer discount on RRA 2-stage triggers. The last four RRA 2-stage triggers I've installed needed work, very badly: gritty, disconnector would not function, release in excess of 6.5 pounds. I have never shot a Geissele trigger, but I have dry fired several. Extremely nice; very well made. It all comes down to what you are willing and are able to pay for a good aftermarket trigger. I do not recommend this procedure. Other AR15.com members have found it useful. www.geocities.com/molonlaberkba/triggerjob.html |
| After much reading and alot of consulting I went with the Chip Mccormick trigger. I purchased it for $174 from Cabelas online and they shipped it imediately. Not being to mechinically inclined I proceeded to try to install the trigger myself and after 20 minutes was able to install it with no problem. Love the new trigger and its SOOO much easy on the pull then the factory. Thanks everyone for the advice and information. |
