| I am trying to decide on an A2 upper (20 inch barrel). This would go on either a RRA or EA lower. Any thought on RRA or CMT uppers....which is better? |

I've built with both (flattops though, not A2), and aside from some cosmetic variances, they're pretty much the same. The only differences I can discern: -My CMT has rough machining in several spots around the upper. The RRA's machining is very smooth with no aesthetic 'flaws'. -The anodizing on my RRA seems much tougher than the CMT, based off the looks of their brass deflectors with roughly equal round counts. -The T-numbers on the CMT are much thicker and bolder. -The RRA will have an RRA logo (the flat top does...I'm actually not sure about the A2), the CMT will be unmarked. -Both seem to have 'in-spec' rails. I've never had a problem with attaching mounts to either, though this wouldn't be a concern if you're looking for an A2. |
Well, since both uppers are made by CMT, I suspect that any differences are simply the differences between two different manufacturing lots. I too have a CMT and Rock River upper. Apart from the fact that the RR piece was early, before they started putting T numbers on them, the things are identical. So my advice is---buy the less expensive piece. |
