I am trying to decide on an A2 upper (20 inch barrel).  This would go on either a RRA or EA lower.  Any thought on RRA or CMT uppers....which is better?

I've built with both (flattops though, not A2), and aside from some cosmetic variances, they're pretty much the same.  The only differences I can discern:

-My CMT has rough machining in several spots around the upper.  The RRA's machining is very smooth with no aesthetic 'flaws'.

-The anodizing on my RRA seems much tougher than the CMT, based off the looks of their brass deflectors with roughly equal round counts.

-The T-numbers on the CMT are much thicker and bolder.

-The RRA will have an RRA logo (the flat top does...I'm actually not sure about the A2), the CMT will be unmarked.

-Both seem to have 'in-spec' rails.  I've never had a problem with attaching mounts to either, though this wouldn't be a concern if you're looking for an A2.

Well, since both uppers are made by CMT, I suspect that any differences are simply the differences between two different manufacturing lots. I too have a CMT and Rock River upper.  Apart from the fact that the RR piece was early, before they started putting T numbers on them, the things are identical.

So my advice is---buy the less expensive piece.
