Who makes the best Comp/muzzle break. I don't need a huge amount of flash suppression. 16" 1in9 fluted barrel. Looking to reduce felt recoil and muzzle lift. Thanks for your help. |

Flash and recoil reducing: Primary Weapons Recoil: JP Tactical Compensator I can't make an argument that either are the best, but theyre options to explore in the least! |
Real AK-74 with expansion chamber and thread adaptor. The AK-74 brake works really well and is relatively cheap. It doesn't do anything for flash and is loud. BSW |
+1 ... almost For maximum recoil reduction, get the JP "Tank" brake. The Cooley Tactical brake works very well. But the original, bigger brake works better in tests. Oh yeah. It's loud. |

firematt100, Get a copy of USPSA Front Sight magazine (Nov/Dec 2007) which has the complete compensator testing and results. It was very interesting and should give you a better understanding of the comps as it ranked several popular brands.
VSP, You should really give full disclosure on your involvement with the SJC Titan comp also. |

That's funny. The link reads as follows: "This device has been classified as a non-flash suppressing device by the BATFE." They even link to an ATF letter saying that it passed the test and does not suppress muzzle flashes. So then why do they call it a flash suppressor???
|
I made no personal claims about the effectiveness of the SJC Titan compensator. I simply tried to direct firematt100 to an impartial review of several compensator models conducted by an independent researcher with published results in an attempt to answer firematt100's original question of "Who makes the best Comp/muzzle break." ....but thanks for caring VSP |
| I run a JP BCTC on my 20" RRA that I use for 3-gun and love it. I had originally planned to test several comps before deciding on "the one". I shot the JP BCTC and never bothered to look further. Every match I shoot someone will ask what kind of comp it is or comment on how little the barrel of my AR moves in while shooting. |
I love you and all man, but the closed bottom Phantom hardly lends itself to being classified as a brake in the least sense of the word (well, maybe better than a bare muzzle). It IS, however, an excellent flash suppressor. |
