Ok I finally decided on waiting the operator barrel out after talking to Denny today.  I guess they are gonna be better than ever!

Now for the all time question, discussed everywhere.  Which handguard???  LARUE OR DANIEL DEFENSE?  I know it's been told over and over, but give me your thoughts, reviews, etc.  In on hand I like the locking system of the larue, as it doesn't look like the DD has any type of locking mechanism?  On the other hand I like the monolithic look...Which do you fellas/ladies recommend?

Thanks a lot

Both are super choices

The Daniel Defense Lite Series has a superb locking mechanism, if that is a high priority for you.

I have found that virtually all higher end rails are good to go with stability, durability, and function.

Get either one and you will be good to go, but LaRue, as a company is hard to beat.

I forgot to mention the lite series is what I was looking at.  I was sitting here looking at the locking system, and at first I was thinking the dd would rotate, if the barrel nut came loose, but I guess thats the same story on the larue and any other rail.  Hell if your nut comes loose you got bigger problems anyways...

your BBl nut is supposed to be torqued to at least 30pouds, DD wants you to torque it to 50pounds when you put the lite rail on. If your Bbl nut comes loose after proper install then something so catastrophic happened, the Bbl nut will be the least of your problems, it might be the only thing left over

^What they said

That is all true, I just want the best all around system for the money.  Looks like it will be right at $60 difference between the two.

Oh and I'm sure it was just speculation, but I have read that only 2 of the rails are mil-spec is that true or false?

Thanks, Zack, for the extra pics.  Can you get one more of the top, like the monolithic rail?

I bought a Knight's free float RAS.  I have no reason to believe that I made the wrong decision.   This is my first free floating experience and I'm surprised at how rigid the assembly is.

Could be true.  The Knight's Armament and the DD M4 are the real ones in theory.  That means very little as LaRue and Troy are also top notch and Vltor is on some Navy mods now also.
