I got the whole stock assembly from ADCO for 152 with 4 dollar shipping. Awesome deal!

I'd like to hear from those that have a VLTOR stock, how do you like it?

How long have you had it and how has it held up?

Whats the most abuse you've put it through?

Which versions have you used or handled?

Any insight into the pros and cons of each version (Modstock, Clubfoot, EMOD)?

Which is your favorite and why?

How do they compare to the CTR and LMT SOPMOD?

Basically I'm just trying to pass time until my stock gets here and I'd like to read about your impressions of the Modstock. Extra points for pictures.

I have a clubfoot model that I put on about a year ago. I bought the basic kit, and it fit perfectly on the milspec tube. I got it to replace the factory carbine buttstock that came with the rifle, which I didn't really like.

The quality of Vltor's product is outstanding. I'm really pleased with the stock. It's on my patrol rifle, and it's been through a 3-day tactical course this past summer. The storage tubes provide a really nice cheekweld, and work well for spare batteries (AA or CR 123).

I'm sure you'll agree when yours arrives.

Cheers,

Carbine Modstock

Clubfoot Modstock

FDE EMOD

Since this is another Vltor Modstock thread someone will complain about their facial hair being pulled for sure.

I've had my first Vltor carbine Modstock now for almost three years and no problems at all, it still fits snug, I haven't abused mine just the normal use.

On my other carbine I've got a tan clubfoot which is my medium range gun and it helps steady the shots when I steady the clubfoot with my support hand.

My favorite is the new EMOD, it's longer, has more storage, great buttpad, tightest of all my Modstocks and probably the toughest buttstock available.

I also got a CTR but it's totally different than the Modstock, no storage, not as comfy cheekweld but it's very solid like a fixed stock.

Thanks, I'm assuming the question was for the one with the compensator.

It's got a Wilson Combat match barrel and compensator and custom work by King's Gun Works Inc. of Glendale, CA.

That's my retired USPSA-IPSC combat competition pistol when I used to compete back in the '80s but it would still do about 2" at 50 yds with 200 gr max .45 load on a machine rest.

King's does awesome work. What about the other one? They don't come from the factory with an extended grip safety and a lowered and flared ejection port. Those are also after market sights, are they King's as well? I can't say for sure but it looks like it has a full length guide rod on it, if not it definitely has an after market recoil spring plug.

You've got a good eye, my other Colt is a 80 series Combat Gov't model and came from the factory with wide 1/8" target sights, lowered and flared ejection port, and serrated front grip strap.

I added a factory Colt extended grip safety, NM solid barrel bushing and Wilson Combat solid guide rod, then sent it to King's for a basic reliability work.

My Combat Gov't doesn't shoot as good as my competition gun but it could beat my friend's Colt Gold Cup 70 series with a Bar-Sto factory installed match barrel, we both tried and exchanged guns several times and my gun always have a tighter group than his at 25 yds.

i too am about to order a modstock for my AR, to those of you who have them, how many CR123 batterys can they hold in the stock, that's the main reason i want one, for the storage, well and cause the standard colapasable stock sucks

On my black carbine modstock in my pic a side battery compartment will fit three CR123 batteries, a total of 6 batteries with both compartments.

My EMOD stock's side battery compartments will fit four CR123 (or three AA) batteries each.

There are older shorter modstock battery compartments but I don't know how many they hold maybe less and there are long compartments for the rifle modstock models that holds four CR123 batteries each tube.

The Vltor clubfoot is my favorite stock, tough to beat for the money. I have one on 6 of 7 rifles. I also have one CTR. I've also owned standard M4 stocks as well as one LMT SOPMOD.

The SOPMOD is an excellent stock but I can't justify the dollar difference over the Vltor on every rifle. One would be fine. I like the CTR's lock up but the cheek weld is lacking when compared to all the others.

I'd like to try an EMOD but have not had opprotunity to do so. My abuse is limited to whitetail hunting with my 6.8 and lots of 5.56 rounds in the gravel pit.

I have a couple of A1-length fixed clubfoots, one clubfoot Mod-Stock, and several std. Mod-Stocks -- I simply love them.

They are my personal favorite collapsible/adjustable stock, but I prefer a fixed A1-length stock on a rifle that (1) nobody else will be shooting much, so no need to adjust length and (2) isn't going to be travelling in a vehicle, etc. much, so no need for compact storage.  One of my very favorites...

Well my shitty luck strikes again. I just got my new clubfoot model in and the battery compartments are too long for the stock, they're for the Emod model I guess. Now I have to ship the wrong ones back and wait for Vltor to send me the right ones.

Got my stock in the mail today. I bought the whole assembly and was a little disappointed when I noticed that the buffer was just a regular carbine buffer, for some reason I thought it came with a carbine H-buffer. I do like the fact that the VLTOR logo is stamped on every piece and that the receiver end plate is parkerized, it contrasts pretty well with the anodized aluminum.

The stock fits pretty tightly to the buffer tube which makes it hard to pull the stock to a desired position on the first try. I guess it will probably loosen up after use. I like the numbers on the buffer tube and the little hole in the stock that allows you to know what position it is in at a glance.

I ordered a RRA lower parts kit and a Tangodown pistol grip, so I should have my lower receiver completed by the end of the week. I started out thinking I was going to just get a lower receiver and a Del-Ton kit, but now that I've got a complete lower with quality parts in it (RRA, VLTOR, TangoDown) I think I might as well just put a quality upper on it. I'm thinking RRA upper, Denny's Operator barrel (comes with a bolt), and a Troy 13" FF rail. I've already got a Matech BUIS, I think I'll put an Armalite folding front on it. Probably top it all off with a TR21R in a Larue mount.

Maybe I'll take some pictures once I get my lower put together.

If you're running a middy, you probably don't need the H anyway. I run both and have not noticed much of a difference.

Think so? What about an H2?

I use the standard Vltor carbine buffer on my midlength gas system carbine with the FDE furniture, it works fine with it, I don't need the H buffer.

On my carbine gas system with the black Modstock I prefer to use a H buffer to make it more reliable.

I also use M16 BCG on both my carbines.

Where is chromeluv when you need him?

My carbines looks plain compared to chromeluv's Vltor upper and Modstock equipped SBR.
