| I would like a rail system for one of my AR carbines, and I'm thinking either the KAS RAS or the Surefire m73. I like the quality and durability of the RAS, but I like how tight the Surefire locks up. Those of you that have the RAS, how loose is the bottom section? Some I've handled were kind loose. I don't want a free float, just something snug to mount a vertical grip on and maybe a light. Weapons in question are a Colt 6450 and 6920. |

My KAC M4 RAS bottom rail section is still tight after more than 2 years of average use on my LMT Defender 16" M4 carbine. You could get the optional KAC UK-SAS lower rail with clamp Part # 20033 which clamps on to the barrel nut instead of just being held by the delta ring. |

First I would suggest the DD Omega rail. But if you must have a RAS, surf the EE, you will find them rather cheap there. As for how tight the lower rail is. Most I have seen have no noticeable movement. It doesn't really matter on the bottom rail unless you plan to mount a laser on it. I have two, a carbine RAS and a M5 RAS. No problems with either. But I wouldn't buy a new one now that the Omega is out. |
