I just noticed that on my new CTR when I retract the stock and "lock into place" the stock moves forward a little when the rifle is shouldered.  This does not happen, however, if I make sure to push the stock forward, once it's "clicked in," and THEN lock it into place.  It's like if the detent, the thing that pops into the receiver extension holes, was a bit undersized.

Anyone?

Okay, so I guess on some units this occurs, as I didn't notice it on the OD green one I had.

both of mine do this also. they are not the milspec model. don't know if that matters.

Mine is, but I don't think that it matters as the stock, either mil-spec or comerical, are be made to fit their respective receiver extensions.

Odd. Mine does not move whether locked or unlocked.

Varying tolerances in production, I guess.  Do me a favor tho.  Collapse your stock all the way to the first position then pull it back to the third or fourth positon WITHOUT pushing forward when you LOCK it in.  Now shoulder it and see if you get some FORWARD movement.  Thanks.

Mine has a slight movement front/back.  I took the stock off and looked in the front end whild moving the fricton lock lever..........the part inside that I assume should touch the stock doesn't come up far enough to do that.  Has anyone checked this?  I'm curious if mine is missing something or if there is some kind of adjustment.

My CTR does this as well.  The locking lever will also loosen up after firing. I don't notice any movement while shooting and it still feels better to me than a M4 stock, so I haven't bothered  contacting Magpul about what's pretty much a non-issue for me.  I let a friend T&E it on his M4 during a 3 day class and he noticed the same things.

Mine is Mil-Spec.

The two that I have move slightly back and forth about 1mm when unlocked and locked.  Just a bit harder to do when its locked.  Both are on Vltor tubes.

Same here.  And, at least to me, it soundes more noticeable when it moves forward in the locked position.
