Forgive me but I searched and couldn't really find a good answer. I'm doing my first build and I want to learn about the gun as I'm doing it. I basically have everything right now except the bolt carrier assy. I see that there is enhanced, national match, lightened, magnetic, standard, chromed, ect ect ect. Basically what I'd like to know is what are the benifits of each, is there a big difference and your suggestions.
I'm building a target rifle. I have a Noveske stripped lower, a 24 inch stainless bull, timmney 3 lb trigger, stag lower parts kit, and a magpul prs waiting to get all put together.

For what it's worth, my opinion is that there is abolutely no advantage in spending one penny more than necessary to buy anything other than a standard bolt/carrier assy.

All 6 of the ARs at my house have Colt bolts/carriers. All but the one that came in the Colt SP1 I bought in 1977 were purchased as used mil surp pieces at gun shows or from the EE section of this site.  They all work just fine.

Purchase of a bolt carrier from any of the vendors that advertise on this site should get you a quality unit last will last longer than you will.

Thanks for the info sham, I'm a little dissapointed that I missed out on a new colt carrier this weekend at a show. I'll have to watch the EE.

BCM (Bravo Company) bolt groups are quite nice. LMT would be my 2nd choice.
