[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Smith Vortex flash hider

I have a Colt H-Bar with the standard issue Colt flash hider. Is the " Smith Vortex Flash hider an improvement? What does it do that the Colt doesn't? I just purchased a RRA predator upper and it comes with this " Smith Vortex" flash hider.

It ia nice! Ive noticed that since it cams right up to the crown it is much cleaner than the standard A2 hider which gets all types of gas and carbon deposits inside. This one doesnt get dirty at all, so no more having to take off the flash hider to clean the crown.
Thats a plus in my book.

I thought some model from AAC edged it out?

That would be the Blackout. I have Vortex's on the carbines that I live fire in the dark with NV, and they work excellently! They are soon to be replaced with Blackout's to support the use of an AAC can. I'll let y'all know how they work both with and without the can in a month or two.
