I'm looking for a cost effective 10'' rail for my carbine that will go over the delta ring. I have a bushmaster XM15 flattop. The cheapest rail i found which covers the delta ring is Midwest Industries at http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Midwest-Industries-MCTAR-24-p/mctar-24.htm

I would also need a low profile gas block, so i was going to go with a Yankee hill low profile for $35 at the same website. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/YHM-Low-Profile-Gas-Block-p/yhm-9381a%20lowpro%20gb.htm

Are these two parts compatible with each other and my Bushmaster?
Does a cheap gas block matter?
Can i trust websites like these?

First post still new to ARs feel free to call me out if im making any dumb mistakes, thanks!

I think the consensus is that MI is quality stuff. Bravo Company also has a good rep here on the site. Welcome aboard!!

is there any reason you want to cover the delta ring rather than just remove it and go with a regular twist on or 2 piece free floater?

I want a free floating rail and i like the look of the continuous top rail that the removal of the delta ring provides. I dont know what your talking about with the twist on rails, but if they give me that look with free floating for less money im sold. If not, would the MI and yankee gas block work together and work with my Bushmaster?

The MI two piece free float quad rails are nice products.  I have two and love them  both.  For the price they are hard to beat IMHO.  I run YHM low pro blocks underneath them.  They are compatible.  The Delta ring has to be removed though.  Just Dremel it off.

Though it is a little bit more than the MI rail - the DD Omega Rail is a lot of rail for the money.

Just my thoughts.

(edit to add - the mid length version is not available yet - so it truly doesn't apply or really even answer your question).

What is the difference between a daniel defense rail and a Midwest industries rail? besides $200

If its durability the most action my AR has seen is a pothole on the way to the range

the durability is on par with just about everything else

the DD rails are known for their strength and being unbelievably lightweight.

that rail linked above is lighter than the HG and delta assembly it replaces.

I cant afford DD rails. Im in school and have no real use for the AR besides fun so im looking for the CHEAPEST freefloating rail that butts up to the bushy flattop rail

$200?  Unless I missed something - it is more like $50 - perhaps $100 for the mid length when they come out with it.

It looks like Rainier has the 7" in stock -

As far as the differences go - I can only say check out the review in the link above and decide for yourself.  If you are looking at the MI and it does everything you need it to do, then that is the easy solution.  I'm just a big fan of the DD stuff - so I thought I would throw it in there.
