I've never given much thought to the billet stuff but Rainier has the Sun Devils and the price seems real reasonable. Anybody have any issues, +'s or -'s etc? I'm going to mate a couple up with a Rifle length VIS and Middy VIS. Feedback on the Sun Devil/VIS combination? I also like the tension screw they added to the lower to take up any play. It's there if you want to use it and if you don't you can just leave it loose. Thanks for any feedback. |
nice ammo pile |
What's the ejection pattern like without the shell deflector? |
I took around 20 rounds from a bench to zero it and didn't really pay much attention to where the empties landed but I think it landed around the 2-3 o'clock position and 4-6 feet away. |
hah! lowers are in - just picked them up - they look great. barrels are in - WOA triggers are in - GA I'm broke. Waiting for next bonus.

yes exactly.I saw your pic on another thread and that is a very nicely done build. I had been eyeing DPMS stainless lowers but the Np3 is the best route. if not done like yours then all white for winter camo. I e-mailed them about getting this done on existing parts and they said it has to be in the white.I guess thats the nice way of saying they don't want to. but thats ok, I do want a Np3 set. thanks AZ3 that'll cost me |
What stock is that? BTW I'm looking into these Sun Devil lowers too. |
I have to change my pants now. That is awesome. |
if we could describe the NP3 coating in one word, it would be "SEXY". everyone loves the look of that titanium colored finish but shelling out the extra money just because they like the color is hard to justify it. so we are trying to find an anodized color to match the np3 coating color buts its tough. in order to apply the np3 coating to existing parts, the part has to be stripped of any other finish, otherwise it wont stick properly. if you can get whatever parts you want coated stripped, i dont think there should be a problem with throwing them in with one of our batches. |
the hole does go all the way through. and yes it is a nylon tipped set screw. how it works is when you throw your upper on, squeeze the upper and lower recievers together until you can barely push out the rear takedown pin. tighten down the set screw to the desired tension and thats it. screw on the grip and it hides the set crew and now you have a rifle with no slop. the reason why so many guns have slop is because not everyone makes their recievers exactly the same. some manufactures have larger lug holes than others. the set screw on our recievers makes it so any upper used with our lower will be sure to have a tight fit and feel like one solid piece. |
