Dunno if this is the right forum.

On a m4 type chrome lined barrel, would it be okay to cut off about and inch and re thread the barrel for the flash hider

Obviously gonna keep it at 16 in. overall length.

The whole purpose is because I think it will look better.

I would probably have it done locally by a gunsmith, or send it to one of our board sponsors, (which ever is cheaper)

Is that dumb or what?

Comments, ideas, opinions and PICS would be great.

Be aware that if you cut the barrel below 16" you need to permanantly attach a muzzle device to bring total length to 16" or more. I would recommend adco for this job, as they do a lot of this type of work.
