Here's the skinny...

YHM's are completely round, ie, feel like shit in your hand.  Oval rail tubes just feel 10x better.  That also rules out the next one up, MI.  Round also.

You can find great deals on KAC rails on the EE.  They kick ass and can be found used in good condition than most others.  The downside is that they're not usually floated but so the fuck what.  Floating carbines is overrated anyway.

Next one up is the Samson/Troy.  Easy to install and oval shaped.  Very comfortable.  Supposedly Samson used Troy's patent and fucked them over.  But supposedly they made a slightly better product in the process.

Next & final Tier is the Daniel Defense/LaRue.  You're running with the big dogs on this one.  Pricey to purchase, difficult to install, but considered the best of the best.  Lightest/Strongest out there.

Personally, I would advise skipping the YHM/MI's, go straight for a KAC/Samson/Troy one (in that order) or throw down the scrilla on a high roller one.

ETA:

YHM & MI=ROUND

EVERYONE ELSE=OVAL

Word of the day: Scrilla

Try the search function, you can read over this same question from every other week it is posted.  But, since I have an opinion to offer, here it is.

My opinion is this.

If you got da "scrilla" buy Larue

If you don't gots da "scrilla" get Troy

I currently have a Troy MRF-CX and love it.  As most everyone will tell you, it is EASY to install and locks up rock solid once installed.

I also have a YHM Lightweight.  I have not installed it yet, it has been sitting in desk drawer at work for a couple months now.  It doesn't seem as well made as my Troy but I have no doubt it will do it's job well.

I am saving for a Larue for another AR right now.  I have a feeling all future purcahses will be Larue.

That's the first logical reason I've seen to go with the more expensive Quad Rails. Now I"ll have to check them out. Thanks.

I have a YHM lightweight.  It works fine for me but some people have had issues with it unscrewing when they use a VFG.  I think the newer models come with set screws to make sure your free float doesn't come unscrewed.  I've never had an issue with the shape of the rail either.  That may be because I use ladder type rail covers.  It's a fine product and perfectly acceptable for the casual user (like most of us).  If you're one of those high speed guys that abuse their equipment on a daily basis, you'll probably want something more robust like a KAC or Daniel Defense.  MJD

The above post is correct, the newer YHM rails have the anti-rotation screws.
