I have a Bushmaster 20" complete rifle. I want a 16" A3 upper to sport an Eotech 512. Price isn't a huge issue but I want acceptable quality (not necessarily top end quality at a comensurate price). I'm looking at: –Bushmaster (pricey from the factory but can't find anyone who sells complete Bushmaster uppers). Can get fluted. Most expensive. –PKfirearms – Bushmaster barrel on an unnamed upper. Next most expensive. –Model "1" Sales – Least expensive but don't know what they are using. Not needed for tactical. Mostly range and self defense. After 23 years Army esperience, I don't need "cool"! QUESTIONS: 1. Does anyone else besides Bushmaster sell Bushmaster complete uppers? 2. Does PK use a quality upper receiver to mount their Bushmaster barrels? 3. Is Model "1" a "quality" upper? I'm leaning toward this unless there are quality failures out there. Regards, |

These guys can help you. You can get a complete barrel assembley for like $225-275 flutted. The can add a CMT upper for like $98. You won't be able to tell the reciever's not a bushmaster. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=22&t=263482 |
+1 excellent upper for the money Stag Arms LMT is one of the best uppers around and definitely worth the money if you prefer a 1/7 twist (Stag is 1/9) |
| I have only bought parts from Model1. They have been kinda hit & miss from my experience. I have had problems with some of the lower parts not fitting well. The uppers I got were CMT(I think) but I have no idea what Bolt & Carrier parts they are stocking(I didn't dare to order any) I would go with the Stag. That way at least you know your getting CMT parts. |

Well, the silence was deafening on the Model1 so I ordered a CMMG upper! I know, I know, it wasn't on the list on my first post, but after a careful review, and the fact that I could get a mid-length system (gas system, handguard, proper bayonet fit, longer sight radius, and max effeciency out of a 16" barrel), I pulled the trigger. Thanks again. |
