I have a bushy XM-15 16" carbine. Can I just unscrew my factory flash suppressor or is it permenantly(SP?) attached Thanks.

If the barrel is 16" you can unscrew it.

If the barrel (withouth the flash supress) is less than 16" (14.5" being common) than you cannot screw it off.

Is there tell tell signs of it not being able to be screwed off? like weld marks or pins I can look for.

What Forest said. What's your current FH look like, i.e., A2, Izzy, Phantom, etc? How long is your barrel w/out the FH? Yes, if there are weld marks or pins you will need a smith to remove it unless you feel comfortable doing it yourself.

My current FH is a A2 I'm not sure how long my barrel is without the Hider on. I'll have to do some reseach on it.

If it's an A2 FS than you can screw it off.  Bushmaster never permanently fixes A2 FS to their barrels.

It's always the Izzy, Phantom, or Vortex.
