I am looking at these two company's products for a foregrip.  I haven't decided whether to go for the freefloat or not yet but I like the reputations of both of them.

Three questions:

Which do you guys like?

Should I go with their FF versions?

How difficult for a novice is a two piece free float to install?

Thanks

I have the MI Quad Rail and love it.  Its a solid excellent setup.  I also use their BUIS too.  Great quality!

I have both. They are both excellent Rail systems, with an edge going to Troy for diameter, and lock up to the barrel nut.

The Troy rails are slightly better but MI's customer service blows Troy away.

Owner of 4 troys - zero problems with any of them. I wouldn't buy any other system at this point.

Get the free-float and follow the tutorial stickied in the AR build it yourself forum. If you have a dremel with a cutting wheel it is a piece of cake to install - 15 min or less for your first, 5 minutes for the second and so on...

I use Troy MRF-RX rails on two of my weapons.  I've been very happy with fit, finish, and performance.  Easy to install, assuming you can get the delta ring off.  A dremel tool works well for that.  10-15 min and you're good to go.

I've heard that the MI rails are very good, with a bit less solid a lockup system to the barrel nut (I haven't played with them so I don't know exactly).

The MI rails are great, I have not tried a Troy. And as previously stated you will not get better service then you get from MI.

+1 for MI service.  I had trouble with one of their gas blocks (it had an incorrect inner diameter and I couldn't get it onto my barrel), and not only did they ream it out to proper dimensions, but they sent a second one back with it as well.

Well.... I went for it and for someone as inept as me it DID only take about 10 minutes of dremeling to take off the ring.  After that the install was about another 10.  I went with a 2 piece freefloat from MI.  It turned out great.

I have used and installed both of them.  They both install easily and I haven't had any problems with either of them, both solid.  Personally, I like the troy a bit better as they are slimmer.  Of course, MI gets a bumb for price....can't really gp wrong with either.  Best bet is to try and shoot both.
