So, does anyone actually know who manufactures the CMMG Bolt carrier groups? I called and they wouldn't tell me on the phone. I don't know why its some big secret. I will be buying a CMMG 14.5" middy in a month or two because that's what I want, and I've heard great things about CMMG upper quality, and excellent customer service. Their barrels look pretty good as far as the specifications, 4150 is good steel.

I just can't decide whether I should use their BCG or not. They only take 85$ off the price of the upper for removing the BCG. That's a pretty cheap unit. I have heard that at one time they used DPMS products, but now they mostly use in house stuff. I DO NOT want a DPMS BCG.

Is there any through the grapevine info, or has anyone figured out what they are? I think I'll just order a JP stainless carrier and use an FN bolt. Any thoughts?

They appear to be your run of the mill Enhanced BCG, so that rules DPMS out, they are likely CMT units.

Are we sure CMMG doesn't make bolts and carriers? Only reason I ask is when I asked Del-Ton who made got thier bolts and carriers(mil-spec) from, they told me CMMG. I could have misunderstood them.

Are you saying CMT makes the bolt and carriers for Del-Ton?

Yeah, CMT is kinda' what I suspected. CMMG has a sterling reputation from what I have heard and read. I'm sure they have their own standards/specifications and quality control for the B/BC. I just don't understand all the secrecy. I guess its above my paygrade or something.

The reason for keeping a bit quiet about your supplier(s) is very simple to understand.  From time to time, and for all sorts of various reasons, you may have to change your out-of-house supplier.  This could be for cost, QC, supply, user trends, new collaborative deals with other firms, for convenience, or for a million other reasons.  Point is, it happens all the time. The problem is that if it is well known that you use supplier X and for some reason you switch to supplier Y, everyone wants to know "why?"  Did they mess up?  Was it QC?  Soon the internet will be flooded with lots of idiots starting all sorts of rumors about your firm and the other guy's products and at BEST, you'll find it difficult to do business with him again, and likely any of his friends in the industry.

Does Colt ever publicly talk about it's suppliers?

Tex78, that makes perfect sense. Thanks for the explanation. That cleared things up well enough for me.

In any case I just can't wait to get this upper, and having heard about CMMG's customer service its a lot less stressful to make the decision to buy.
