I am looking to buy a lower, what do you guys recommend? Have any of you used the Sun Devil billet lower? |
|
4 basic kinds of lowers: Forged = chunk of metal hammered into shape = strength (this is by far the most common type) Billet = big chunk of metal cut into shape = tighter tolerances, but marginally less strength Cast = liquid metal poured into a mold = not favored for firearm receivers Polymer = some kind of synthetic material = I'll let someone else pass judgement (they are not very common, and I'm not even sure if any are being produced right now) You will not have any problems with most any forged or billet receiver. The practical differences in actual use are minimal. Fun to bicker about on the internet, but minimal none the less. I got a Sun Devil lower, well, because I think they look cool as shit. There is no reason not to get one, so if that is what you like, go for it. |
| i am pretty sure that i am going to use a del-ton kit, but i could be open for a jtdist kit or model 1. It will be a standard m4 for now. I will probably upgrade parts as i go along. I am trying to resolve a few issues, mainly what lower to get (stag, mega, sun devil, or superior) and finding an inexpensive, reliable carry handle. |
