I am looking to add a free float tube to my 20" rifle length Bushy from the tax time sale and am curious what experiences have been had with different manufactures as far as:

1.  Grip
2.  Quality
3.  Weight
4.  Value
5.  Anything else I may be forgetting.

So far, my pick is the Bushmaster Varminter Tubular Vented Forend

I need one that has the stud up front to mount the bipod.

The next question is vented or non-vented?

Any to flat out stay away from?

Of course pics are always good!

 Thanks in advance!

If you are trying to avoid railed float tubes the Bushmaster and RRA are nice.  they both offer some ventilation, good gripping surface and high quality.  i don't know about weight though.

Another option is something like the YHM modular forearem that lets you put rails only where you want them.  (like for a bipod, a flash light, a sling swivel , or a back up sight if you want, or if you want to be able to add them later).  Also if you dont want them you can take them off.

I have the Viking Tactics tube in carbine length. I really like it. Lets me put rails where i want one. It is rather light, and does have a spot pre drilled and threaded for bi-pod use.

Well, I'm sold!  I scoured every inch of the JP Rifles website.

The JP/V-Tac Modular Hand Guards is a little more than I had intended to spend on this.  But I think I will put one on my 16" Mid Length as well, which will save money on that rifle verses the LaRue or DD rail I was planning on.

The concept of rail where you want them makes a lot of sense.  I have always thought that gripping a rail may not be the most comfortable thing to grip.

I also see an Adjustable gas block and JP fire control group in my future.

Does anyone else have experience with JP products?  They seem top notch while still reasonably priced.
