How do you like them?

I want to do one on my 14.5 and really like the idea of a solid foreend and also the posibility of leaving on only the rails that are needed. Plus it looks sorta Masada-esque

Any pictures of your carbines with the CASV would be much appreciated too!

I like mine. Vltor's got a winner with this one.

Please do! I have the CTR on mine as well.

Solid as a ROCK. If you haven't finger fucked one yet let me know. I'm sure we can work something out.

I like it very much. Especially ease of installation and rock solid fit. Below is photo of original setup on my Stag. Now I added Aimpoint in LaRue mount (one for high rail hanguards), Magpul CTR stock, AK Concepts DSTN and GG&G gas block with flip up front shight.

Another question: How about mounting an Eotech? Are the rails too high?
7/5/2007 10:42:49 AM EDT

I thought I read somewhere that it was orginally designed for the Eotech? Anyone?

I am going to use an Aimpoint on mine with the LaRue LT-152 low mount so it will co-witness.

Actually I'm thinking now I'm goint to go with the Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T

No co-witness with Eotech (tried this). But as I prefer Aimpoint, then LT-152 mount is ideal choice for CASV-EL.

Can additional rails be purchased for it? Does anyone have pics of it with the long rails mounted in 3-6- and 9 o'clock positions?

Worked for me...

If you want to co-witness you need something that sits low. The ARMS #17 TriMount I have on my SOCOM 16 worked, but when I bought a mount just for the CASV-EL I went with the LaRue LT-152.

I see these single thumb screw flip up rear sights mount with the CASV, but my question is will a single thumb screw A2 type rear sight work as well?
Also what optics will co-witness with the CASV, without having to buy an expensive mount?

Good question, i'd like to know as well.

I just purchased MI front and rear flip up sights and plan on using them as backup when I take off the Leupold mk4 CQ/T

Something like the LaRue would fit, but I don't think one of the big style, like the DPMS would work.

It's a great concept, they need longer lengths for mid and rifle length setups.

My interest is how hot, to the touch, they get under sustained fire.  Would gloves be a must?

Mine is on an M16; it has gotten warm, but not too hot to handle, even with the supressor being used.

I've been highly interested in one of the VLTOR CAS-V systems for awhile. It's a good looking unit, and later in the future, I think I may pick one up.

I have one and like it. It's solid and I like the uni-top rail concept. It leaves just enough rail space in the back for your BUIS and eliminates the need to uses risers on my optic (many not be true for all optics). The bottom half can be easily removed without tools for easy cleaning. I only recently installed it so I can't speak to how it will stand the test of time but it seems sturdy right now. It does add some weight to the rifle but not enough to bother me. I like the overall balance of me rifle with this system.

As a plus, VLTOR happens to be located in Tucson where I live so I can go strait to the manufacturer if I ever encounter a problem. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g66/jloftus/June19169.jpg

Love the look and functionality.  I especially like that there aren't any rails that you don't need.

However, I'm poor.  I still want one, though.

Since we get only  midlength systems in germany (almost 90%)  how would it fit there ??
I think from  technical standpoint it would work but  how does it look ?

Does someone has a pic ??

Here's a pic, and it works GREAT with the Eotech, and NVD's , and anything else you can hang on it ( i.e tactical beer-can holder).

Buy one, and enjoy, you won't go wrong.  I Love mine!

I have a special ring compact ACOG, so I just got a slightly shorter mount for it and it lines up fine.

I have asked VLTOR about releasing a mid-length model, and they said that they are "working on it...."  The last time I talked to them, they said they believed it would be available " in a few months..." and that was back in May.

I can't wait to see this one because I have been trying to build a new 6.8. SPC and I know I want that handguard.

You should call or email them.....
