my advice is to read this forum, the optics forum, and the general AR15 forum for a good three months before buying anything. keep your money in your pocket until you have a good understanding of (1) what you need the rifle to do, (2) what a prospective rifle can do, and (3) how to get the prospective rifle together. otherwise you are just going to make an expensive mistake, and a frustrating one at that. always remember -- it's a system: you can't put a crap optic atop a wonderful barrel and expect miracles. nor vice versa. so have a look around, follow a few threads, peek into the "post your AR's" porn, scout out some components, ask some questions about them, and finally post what your final config is going to be for comments. if it fits your budget, meets your needs, and doesn't elicit groans from the peanut gallery here, go for it. good luck. ar-jedi |
