Ok, let me start off by saying, excuse my newbie-ness, as this is my first AR build. It is slightly diffrent then the older A2's i used in the Army. But isnt there supposed to be a barrel nut or some type of locking device that holds the barrel into the upper reciever? It is a flat top upper with a DPMS heave barrel (16"), the float tube is screws down onto the threads, is this normal? I got this upper in a trade for my first build, kind of concerned. Thanks, and pics to help with the visualy impaired. I did notice a pin or what looks to be a pin in the threads going into the barrel. Any help?

Normal. The float tube in this case IS the barrel nut.
