Hey guys, trying to pull an SIR M off an M15A4, bloody lower plastic handguard's stuck in place, slides 1/4" and stops cold. I can't get the two side rail sections out, any advice?

Thanks :)

Check your IM ... sqeeze those rails while sliding it up there are tracks in them which will bind up against the mounting track and will give you fits getting it on and taking it off.

Did you remove the rails from the handguard first?

Slide the handguard forward as far as you can, then remove any rails you may have attached, and then the handguard should slide the rest of the way off.

... try inching it forward ever so slightly there are spaces that when engaged will seperate the two halves ...moving it forward on my #50 the rear of the handguard moves about an inch then seperates. Sounds to me like your moving past this point which will keep it engaged. I have never had any problem except at first with this and that was so long ago ...  I am looking at a spare #1 rail as I type and there definite notches machined into the post that ride a rail on the upper half but I dont have to remove my rail to remove the HG it all comes off as one piece. If its new try some Break Free on it and maybe grab the rails firmly and try to wiggle them to make sure the track aligns then repeat steps 1,2,3.

Turns out one of the screws had backed out on the barrel nut clamp, it was blocking the handguard from sliding off, fixed now!
