[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Upper identification?????

I have a AR upper with a 16 inch heavy barrel, detatchable carrying handle ,and bayonet lug, short handguards and marked on the front sight....D99 RI in a circle followed by a 2.

Can anyone tell me who made this? Or point me to a good reference on markings?

Would post a pic but don't know how to.

See if you can find any markings on the barrel. The marking on the front sight base is usually a forge mark and will not indicate manufacture of the barrel... just the forge.

Not any markings on barrel at all.....Guess it ain't no big deal anyhow...got the whole complete upper for 200.....
