Will the AAC M4-2000 mount bring a 14.5" barrel to 16", if permanently attached?

I believe so.

Right from the AAC website:

Will permanently attaching an M4-2000 flash hider to a 14 1/2” barrel put the overall length over 16 inches?

No.

They also have a couple new designs that may get you the 16" you are looking for.

Yes,

The new mounts which are phantoms will bring a 14.5" barrel to 16.5"

The old A1 birdcage mounts would not, however I don't think you can get those anymore.

Thanks, guys.

They have the standard mount, the Socom, and the Phantom.  The Phantom is the only one that will get you legal on a 14.5" bbl.

I'm doing the same thing as you are, I'm going to be putting one of their phantoms on a 14.5 in hopes that we will have supressors here in MI soon.

They actually have two SOCOM styles available.  The old style will get you over 16", the new one will not.

Bradd, the Phantom coming with your can WILL bring your 14.5" barrel to about 16.25".  Talk to Allen and he can give you your mount while we are waiting on your paperwork.  Should be any day now.  If you can't get him on the phone I have tons of the Phantoms at home.

The SOPMOD mounts I've got will NOT put the barrel to 16".  So, if you were mounting FS on a 16" barrel and wanted to keep the extra length to a minimum, the SOPMOD is a good choice.  It adds .75" less than a standard Phantom.

The comment posted from AAC's website probably refers to the A1 birdcage.  AAC frequently changes and improves products and they don't always advertise it.

I sent you an IM about shooting next Thursday.  If you can make it I could always bring your can and you can shoot it while at the range.

Also, if you need any extra mounts, let me know.

Mark

BM still has them in their catalog... they were (i think) $6.50 each.

Sorry I meant the AAC A1 mounts for the M4-2000 suppressor, they were about $85.

He's referring to the original AAC M4-2000 flash hider mount, not an M16A1 type flash hider.
