Who's the maker of this Suppressor? What length barrel are they using?

Contractor

I just wanted to know if the experts can help. Thanks

BR-Toute reflex can?  Kevin-B would know.

Quite possibly... At first, I though it was a OPS Inc.

Where's Kevin? Help!

It looks like a 10.5 barrel, nothing else to see on the can.
5/9/2006 3:15:20 PM EDT

it looks smaller in diameter than a BR Tuote reflex can. Maybe an Ase Utra then?

exocet-

What country is the Ase Utra suppressor made in?

Maybe a picture can help in getting an answer.

they are both Finnish cans.

it does look like the Ase Utra Compact

Could be an Ops Inc., The 15th Model CQB MBS is a shoter can that I have seen mounted on an 11.5" barrel, it uses a similar collar and brake for the SPR but for the shorter weapons.

Somebody better talk to this amateur. He is losing all the style points on arfcom.

1) Eotech mounted on a non-FF rail.
2) No cheekpiece or battery compartment on the off side of the Vltor Stock.
3) VFG is not painted to match the rest of the rifle.
4) Removable carry handle is to far to the rear.
5) And his dust cover is OPEN!

Oh the humanity of it all.

He also needs some serious sunscreen on his head.

Note the guy behing the VIP. Pistol magazines on the belt, oriented the right way. He's hearding the cameraman away.

Now that's funny, great observation, especially on the carry handle.

He's not part of the security detail, but he did stay in a Holiday Inn Express.

I agree on the OPS Inc. being the maker of this can.

My guess  from first glance is the OPSINC can -- they are much more prevelant in that unit than the Ase Utra.

The C8CQB has a 10" barrel not a 10.5 - so it could be a screw on ASE Utra unit as well...

That unit has very sucessfully used EOTECH's on the RAS (for Tier1 Domestic CT as well as green side ops) - however it is up to the indivdual operator.

Somewhat hard to tell from the photo.

Here is how our thread mounting jet-Z series CQB suppressor looks like:

Might be me, but the only type of can i know that has that type of fully concentric, smooth exterior, are the SWR cans. Opsinc have that textured part to aid in unscrewing it, the ASE unit have these ridges at the end of the can, and the Gemtech narrows down towards the end. My money is on SWR.

Last time I was paying attention that unit had only KAC, OPSINC, ASE UTRA and PGDTI cans...

When I dropped down to Kandahar last the only ones I saw in use on the 5.56mm guns where OPSINC

So that means the rifle in question is an 11.5'er, correct?

The C8CQB is a 10" barrel -- OPSINC made a few special mounts setups -- PGWDTI also made a special can for the 10" - but I have not seen it (it was not in production last time I dropped in at PGW).

FWIW
The only can in use outside of JTF in the CF for 5.56mm is the ASE UTRA

An observation- maybe running a coyote brown plate carrier over a light beige vest is not really the best idea.  It looks like it gives anyone with a rifle a good idea of where not to shoot.

I knew some guys who wore DCU tops over their armor- and I never asked them but I always figured it had to make it tougher for a potential enemy dragunov rifleman to score a good hit.

It had to be either they were thinking of that or they just wanted DCU showing instead of woodland and black armor.

Have to give credit for the Canadian forces with regards to suppressor use, they are also used by conventional units in addition to SOF forces. A trend that will continue to increase universally, especially with sniper weapon systems.

That's very interesting. I guess that means they ditched the collar at all for these suppressors? Accuracy isn't that big a concern on a 10" gun anyway.

Kemp -- I honestly don't know   I've shot a few of them but never taken them off the gun.

The jet-Z series CQB SP was the older, 2nd generation quick attach mount.

Here are the Ase Utra quick attach mounts in order, from oldest to the newest:

1st gen

2nd gen (SP mount)

3rd gen (QM mount)

Now that I have one to compare, with the collar for the SBR, I'm pretty sure its a 15th Model OPS INC can.

Hey pal ... I have one on the way !

I am dying to see what it looks like on an M4 or SPR.

Can ya maybe help a brother out with some pics?

I'd appreciate it.

It also works just fine on SPRs in place of the 12th model.  From what I've been told, its hard to tell the difference between a 12th and 15th on a SPR.

Awesome pal. Thanks !

Can't wait ...

I have a brand new Rock 1/7 SS blank I need to have turned for it.

Mike's a buddy of mine and I got the first blank off a brand new run, with new tooling. Should be a screamer.

Phil told me an M4 contour is what the 15th Model was designed for.

QUESTION: Are there two different collars there for your SBR and the M4?

Looks like that is what I am seeing in your pics but am unsure ...

I am planning to have Wes build me an SPC like the first 6.8 he built for Phil (see upper thread in EE) only in 5.56. photos.imageevent.com/smglee/mstn/large/OPS68-3.jpg

Phil told me the same thing about the 15th Model vs. the 12th Model ... I was initially going to go with the 12th Model but he talked me out of it. He said human ears alone (non-measured) would barely notice the difference and the 15th is shorter/more maneuverable for cop work in the hood.

Who the hell am I to argue?

Thanks again for the pics.

Steve, money just got spent on different stuff earlier today

Still might pick up that M4-02 Demo you have if it's still there by the time I scrape up the cash.
