| Are chrome bolt carriers worth the extra money? If so which ones are worth the money? What do they do, besides being easier to clean? |
|
They don't do a darned thing And they're not all that much easier to clean. It's just easier to spot the places you missed. If you do decide to go chrome, for pete's sake stay away from the DPMS pieces. I had one once and it was very poorly finished, full of tool marks, the channels on the underside that clear the magazine lips weren't cut deep enough and some of my mags dragged on the underside. Other have posted with the same comments, so my piece was not unique. I will admit to owning a chrome bolt/carrier assembly, but it's a very early Colt Air Force M16 smoothside, that lives in the M16 clone at my house; and historical accuracy is the only reason I got it. |
| I have an Les Baer Complete bolt group for sale if anyone is interested, www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=119&t=351146 |
un necessary uber tactical bling bling so you want some iCE on your AR? what next GRILLZ?!! |
I'VE HAD SOME 1911'S DONE IN NP-3, YEARS AGO. IT'S SLICK, NO DOUBT, AND CLEANS VERY EASILY, BUT WEARS NOWHERE NEAR AS WELL AS HARD CHROME. I'VE READ THAT NP-3 COATED EXTRACTORS DO NOT WORK ....TOO SLICK! WE ARE EXPERIMENTING WITH SOMETHING NEW IN COATINGS. WILL LET YOU KNOW IF IT PROVES TO BE BENEFICIAL. WES |
