I have that upper on my duty weapon, and like it enough to choose it over all the other options I have available to me.

Ricker and Stickman, thans for the replies and great photos.

A few questions, Does DD manufacture this in house or do the have someone else make it? If they do contract out, who is the supplier? How does this upper compare in quality and finish to say a Colt, RRA or LMT? How about bolt and carrier, standard or fancy upgraded units? I hate to ask the dreaded mil-spec question but are the parts milspec? Stickman since you have one how does it shoot? Reliability and accuracy? I have an LMT lower waiting for an upper and I'm considering this, how do you guys think it will match and mate up? Stickman I notice in the second photo you went with the LMT stock, I'm considering one also for my build, How much do you like it vs the Stock stock? Is it worth the dough? Again guys thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, they are doing most of the work in house. I doubt things like the Dring, gas tube, or other little parts are made by them, but most companies don't.  Quality of the complete uppers is about as flawless as I have seen.  HOWEVER, its worth noting that in some pics, you will notice bare aluminum in areas, thats simply from be working with it.  When I first got it, it was pristine, its just that things don't last that way for very long with me.

Reliability isn't an issue, but I really can't comment on accuracy as that isn't what I do.  I zero a weapon, all the rounds touch, and then I go into 50 yard and closer shooting.  My job involves pulling out my duty carbine several times a week on calls, sometimes much more often.  All of it is clearing alleys, buildings, schools, etc..  I have not shot it for distance accuracy, and to be honest, I have not fired it with that ACOG in the pic.  There is nothing I can think of that would lead me to believe it isn't highly accurate, but I will never use a bipod, sandbags, or optic to see what its max abilities are.  On a brighter note, I won't BS you with an answer either.

I've run it with a LMT stock lower, as well as with the M93 Magpul stock (see below pic).  I like both,   but I really think its a matter of individual taste.  The Vltor is another stock I've used and enjoyed.  All of them are an inprovement over the basic stock, but none of them change the way I shoot, or make me lust after them.  I do NOT feel I am a more capable platform by changing stocks.

Enough of my babbling, onto more pics......

Here are a few pics of mine. Its a complete DD carbine. Shoots like a dream and extremely accurate. When I do my part, it shoots sub moa
groups with standard M855 ( non match grade ammo ). I am interested to see how she'll do with some quality ammo at my next range
session.

Thanks for all the info and pics guys (those pics are great).
Jtrusty, the DD lower with the ambi safety, did that come from DD or was that an addon you did?
I'm a southpaw and may consider (sigh) , another lower and upper build beside my current LMT lower.

Jtrusty, the DD lower with the ambi safety, did that come from DD or was that an addon you did?

In a nutshell...

I wanted a very specific weapon built using very specific parts. I gave DD a list of components
and said build it. The end result it was you see.

Parts include:

DD upper
DD lower
--- KNS Anti rotational trigger pins
--- Norgon ambi mag catch
--- Ambi selector switch
--- Two stage trigger (non adjustable)
--- Enidine hydraulic carbine buffer
--- Hogue grip
--- Vltor stock / tube
DD barrel
--- 4150 MP tested
--- Chrome lined
--- 1:7 Twist
--- M4 Profile
DD M4 7.0 Free Float Handguard
--- KAC rail panels

I added the Aimpoint CompM3 (2MOA), Aimpoint 3X, Larue LT129 & LT150 mounts, Troy rear
battle sight & Magpul mag upgrades after I received it.

Interesting....So is this a special service or could a regualr joe like myself have them build a rifle from my list(within reason)? Again, thanks.

If you asked them for a similar build, I don't think there would be any issues with them building it for you that way.  However, I don't think that the complete weapons will be available to the public for a little while yet.  I do not have an exact time frame, but I'm guessing a couple months.

Looks like it sorta has a unique barrel contour.

This is not a standard service, but that is not to say that they wouldn't work with you to build
the weapon you desire. Furthermore, as Stick has already mentioned, full DD weapons aren't
currently available on the commercial scene. They do have plans to open up sales to the
general public at some point. However, no time frame has been set ( that I am aware of ).

I have no defense other than to point out that those are old pictures ( notice the lack of a rear
BUIS ). I was waiting for my production SPRE's to arrive before attaching a black ASP.

Not that it matters, but out of curiosity does the DD upper have M4 feed ramps cut in it?

Bringing this thread back from the dead, one more question. Is the barrel on the upper 14.5 or 16 inch?

I believe both are available, but the ones pictured are 16".

I dropped by the shop a while back and Mr. Daniel showed me a Recce-ish upper with a 16" SS bbl and a 12.0 FSPM. He told me the ones I saw were headed overseas, but they would eventually start selling them to the public.

Very Nice .

UPDATE:
I took the plunge and bogut the DD 95 upper. Just got it today and it is sweet. I'm very impressed. Finish is almost perfect, just one minor scuff mark on the rail portion of the flatop. BCG looks very similar to the CMT "improved" unit. Upper is perfect fit on my LMT defender lower. Sadly due to work,
I didn't get as much time to mess with it as I wanted. Also sadly I will not get a chance to bust caps for almost 2 weeks because of work. If anyone is looking for a top tier  complete upper, at this stage I highly reccomend DD. Again I ask, why doesn't Dainel Defense have a forum here?
