I have a 1979 Colt SPI that has a 20 inch Barrel. I want to put a newer A3 16 inch Upper on it. Do I need to stick with Colt or will any of the top AR vendors work. Anything to watch out for? Comments or Suggestions are welcome. Thanks, J

Generally, all uppers and lowers are all standard. They will all fit. (I say generally, because ther ARE some uppers and lowers that may need a little work for them to fit properly.) However, aren't there Colts with larger front takedown pin holes? I do not know which model this is but in that case, you may encounter some problems with that if that is the type of colt you have. |
OK? My advice still stands, stick with a good brand of upper and you'll be fine. Also, like was said earlier check to see if your front take down pin is the "large version" |
