| Is it safe to use the same bolt group in different uppers? |
Over time, the bolt's lugs wear and mate with the barrel extension's lugs. Swapping bolts can result in headspace issues. If you want to swap a bolt between barrels, at least check the headspace before firing. |
+1 moving metal tends to wear together. |
This is why I have 2 bolts for my MRP, and swap them out every 500 rounds or so. This allows both of the bolts to mate to my barrel. I would think if you have less than 2,000 rounds on your rifle, and you have lubed the lugs properly/ often, you could still start breaking in a new bolt for that barrel. It's hard to say for sure because of variances in metal quality, cleaning habits etc. Tack |
