Hello all,
Which manufacture marks their upper with a "T"?  I've seen several uppers for sale around ar15.com and cmmginc.com that only say T marked.  Is there a reason they won't disclose the actual dealerThanks

there are several companies that do this.  LMT, KAC, some Colts, etc.  Ameetec uppers have the numbers just stamped in, not white.  RB Precision sells RRA uppers that have numbers added by laser engraving.

Doesn't it make sense for each company to have individual markings?  Otherwise, how do you know what you're getting?  For example, I know most Colts are marked with a "C" and Bushmasters a "B"  If it's just marked "T", is there any way of knowing which company it is?  Thanks

T marked has nothing to do with who the manufactuer is, it  means that the upper has numbers and the letter T  on the top rail of the receiver

It would make sense for those that care.  Buy from reputable places so you know what you are getting.

No most Colts are not marked C nor Bushmasters B.  An example of upper markings would be AF for Alcoa Forge which is the manufacturer of the raw forging.

T means "Top" and nothing else.  Yes as in Top, Right, Left, Bottom.  Think of it like a label on the front of the magwell that says "Face front to enemy"

Ahh, now we see your problem.
T markings are the numbers that identify the slots in the top of an upper or handguard, as shown in this pic form teh G&R Tactical site:

As opposed to B (bottom) or L (left) numbers that you might find on a handguard.

Hoplophile pretty much covered it.

Are you asking about that, or are you asking about some other type of "proof mark" that is on your upper?

I see the confusion now.  I was asking about the markings on the barrel, inbetween the front sight and end of the barrel.  For ex., my Bushmaster is marked  "B MP 5.56 NATO 1/7".  I was asking about the initial "B" on the barrel.  I thought when people put "T" marked, they were refering to the barrel markings.  Thanks for clearing that up.  And sorry for the delay in my response.  Been busy during the 4th.

the "b" on your bbl does indeed stand for bushmaster, supposedly they manu. their own bbl.s
