I need to know why i have 3 "Colt" barrels... But one looks different. The M4 barrel (TOP) in picture has a small step cut near flash hider "Arrow". All My barrels have this. Why does (Bottom) barrel not have small step? This barrel is Heavy under hand guards-- and has 99 stamped on it. Why is it "strait" at end near flash hider? Anyone?

MIL-SPEC barrels have the step for compatability with something. NATO rifle grenades, I think. Bushmaster takes the time to cut in the little step even on their HBARs so I had always assumed that Colt did too. I guess not. Unless you plan on using your HBAR to launch rifle grenades you should be okay with the step. |
