Bought a Colt shorty upper from Hoplite. The main marking appears to be a small keystone symbol just below the flat top. Any ideas what that symbol means ?????? |

It is the mark of the company that made the raw receiver forging that Colt would in turn have finished or had a subcontractor finish to their spec. An authentic Colt receiver should also have a "C" next to that keyhole marking also, but since Colt is the king of exceptions to its own rules, who knows. IMO, without the "C" forging mark next to the keyhole forging mark, I would suspect that the upper receiver, itself, may not be an authentic Colt part, but see the above king of exception comment. Colt is the best at it. |
